SWEET Visitors to Lions Royale

February 2, 2012

I had a delightful visit with a couple from Ottawa on Tuesday - Louise and John McManus.

They came to meet the Ragdoll babies and to chat about cats.

Louise and John have an enviable occupation - they own a Belgian Chocolate shop in Ottawa!  They just celebrated their 18th year in business and I can see why.  Their passion for their work shows in the artistry of their creations.  They very kindly brought me a special gift from their shop - an adorable sleeping kitten completely out of chocolate and on a chocolate bed!!  But wait, lift the sleeping kitten and underneath are the most amazing chocolate treats of assorted shapes and designs.  One was a MOUSE!!  There was a cute little basket with a handle and a butterfly too.  They look delicious.  I haven't had the heart to eat them just yet!   I will wait till Dave and I can sit and savor them together with a cup of tea.  What a special present. I was so amazed.  It was such a lovely gesture to bring me this little treasure.  Thanks Louise and John!

It is so precious, I left it wrapped for a couple days until I could take the time to open it carefully and take photos. I will post those here in the blog today if I get a chance.  It's just such a work of art.  No wonder John and Louise have such a successful business!  The appeal of their little treasures is universal. They ship as well so you can try one too!  You can actually go to the website and order this adorable kitten and many, many other beautiful pieces.  Imagine the look of delight when someone receives this little darling at their door.  The great thing about it is that with the kitten being hollow, you can put any kind of surprise underneath!!

OK, the chocolate was a very special surprise and very precious gift.  But John and Louise are also treasures!  They shared stories of their boy 'Buddy' that were so touching and funny.  Buddy was a stray black and white boy with quite a past.  A tale that just makes you shake your head and wonder what that kitty had experienced before he attached himself to John and Louise.   I will have to ask John if he can write a bit about this little character.  I couldn't possibly tell the tale of Buddy the way John and Louise do.  Just incredible. i think Buddy could have his own story book for kids.  I really enjoyed our visit and cat chat while playing with the Ragdoll babies. The kittens enjoyed the attention too, especially little 'Blueberry' who was like the energizer bunny.  But after the visit she was fast asleep.

So if you are in the Ottawa area, why not pop into Louise's Belgian Chocolate Shop.  It's located at Village Mews Plaza, 194 Robertson Road, Bells Corners Ontario K2H 9J5.  Ask John and Louise about Buddy!  You are in for a great story and I'm sure you will find many, many items that you will want to bring home and more that you will want to send to loved ones.

If you aren't in Ottawa, please visit Louise's Belgian Chocolates ONLINE at: www.louisesbelgianchocs.com

Thanks Louise and John!! It was a real pleasure making your acquaintance and I feel like I know Buddy now too!  I picture 'Puss in Boots' when I think of him. haha

Support FIP Research at NO COST to you!

November 9, 2011

I just learned of a great way that we at Lions Royale Ragdolls and everyone that loves to give can support research for the devastating disease FIP.

The IGIVE organization has a wonderful program that allows us to raise money just by shopping online at stores that we already buy from and love.  It doesn't cost YOU anything!  When you shop at an IGIVE store, a portion of the sale is donated by the store to the charity of your choice

Please visit www.sockfip.org for more information on the research that's going on, how to support the research and help save lives.

Also, when you join up with IGIVE using the link below, they will automatically donate $5 to SOCK FIP and $5 to any charity that you choose!  Maybe you'd like to support a different charity but using the link below will give a one time donation to the wonderful, ongoing research to save our beloved kitties.

These are the details:

Each new person using the iGive Button means $10, even if they support a different cause.
  • $5 goes to your cause and $5 goes to your friend's cause.
  • No purchase necessary.
  • Friends need to try the Button for at least 90 days for any donations to count.
  • Facebook, Twitter, and email make telling friends easy.
Your friends must use the special tell a friend link in order to get credit.

So please click the link to sign up and let's raise some money to fight this horrible disease in our beautiful baby cats just by shopping where we love to anyhow!

Ragdoll Care and Feeding page up and running

October 26, 2011

I've posted the new Ragdoll Care & Feeding page.

It's a work in progress. I have lots of info to add to this yet.  Most of the information is what new pet owners receive when they adopt a kitten.

You will notice some banners on my site as well.  I've posted some advertisers that I thought pet owners would enjoy getting products from.  I love browsing pet product sites to see what's on sale and to find items that I can't get around here.  I hope you enjoy this feature.  I'll try to keep the banners fresh and updated with special sales.

Emmie and her little babies are doing great. I will get some photos of these precious kitties to share. The babies are starting to get around on their own. Soon they will want out of the queening area to run, run, run.  Well, running is more 'wobbling' but they love to extend their boundaries.  They are so cute at this age as they learn to walk, soon they will be curious enough to try to eat some of moms food.

October 14, 2011

OK!  The first new page is started and is posted for viewing!

Please visit the RAGDOLLS, RAGDOLLS, RAGDOLLS page where you can see the Ragdolls that we have loved over the years.  You can check out the various colors/patterns to assist you in deciding which one really appeals the most to you when choosing your new kitten.

You can see our foundation cats, where we started and how our breeding has developed.  Lots and lots of photos to enjoy and details on different kitties that have stolen our hearts over the years.

I'll be posting a page showcasing kittens that have gone to new homes over the years as well.

Care and feeding as well as training will be featured on another page very soon.

I hope you enjoy this. Soon the homepage will be transformed as well with new photos!  Each of our beautiful resident Ragdolls will have a page with details and pictures of them too!

It is a lot of work but very rewarding!

Revamping Lions Royale Website!

October 10, 2011

Well, it's about time!

I've been wanting to do this for a while now but just couldn't find the time or the motivation.

Since there have been sooo many changes here I'd like to freshen things up a bit, update info and make pages for each of our resident kitties.

We have some BEAUTIFUL Ragdolls that have joined the Lions Royale family and many that have retired.

I think that more info on Ragdolls is in order as well as their special 'care and feeding' page.

I'm planning some new stuff for you to enjoy as you visit the pages of my site.

I should have quite a bit of it completed by the end of October!

Emmy and her little ones are doing very well. We have some older kittens for adoption (3.5 - 4 months) but in the meantime we are enjoying them immensely!!  They are so fun at this age!

New litter born and new stud cat!

October 8, 2011

This has been a crazy week.

Emmelie has had 7 beautiful babies!  Dad is Champion Diego.  So far all is good.  :)

I wasn't expecting them this early in October. I had her date for this coming week but she had other plans.

Actually, Dave and I were supposed to be away this past week but Dave wasn't feeling great so we canceled. Good thing!  I wouldn't have been prepared at all for this event.  As it was, she started having them in the closet and I just happened to wake up around 5 am and heard some squeaking.  I quickly transferred her and babies into their bed and she continued on to have the other 3!!  Amazing. She was so calm and settled. She ate lots afterwards and I gave her special treats as a boost. She's been very relaxed and I still just have her in our ensuite. She likes to be close.

Another big announcement and one that is super exciting for us is the introduction of an absolutely fantastic new male to the Lions Royale Ragdoll family!  This boy comes from Rhetorical Ragdolls in MA.  He will be a year old late this month and is a BIG boy in Seal Bicolor.  He's super friendly and we just adore him. He made himself right at home and in our hearts upon arrival.   His registered name is 'Rhetorical Rocky' and he was shown by his breeder as a kitten where he obtained the award of 5th best kitten!  We'd love to take him out in the future. He's got the whole package - size, looks and personality!

He's great for posing so we'll get tons of photos and make a page for Rocky and our other absolutely fantastic stud boy Barney that we introduced last month.  We are so excited to have these two boys.

Sir Lancelot, son of International Grand Champion Lionsroyale Horatio Caine Baron will be available to a cattery as a stud and Diego may be as well as we continue to progress in our breeding plans.

We haven't used Buzzby for a while since most of our girls are his daughters.  We may consider retiring him to a pet home. He's a fantastic boy that would love to just be a pet.
